By defeating terrorism, we have proved to the entire world that it is possible to achieve anything through dedication and commitment. With that now in our past, it is our responsibility to work towards the betterment of the nation in the New Year.<\/p>\n<p>It is necessary for us to safeguard the environment that we created to enable people of all nationalities and religions, whether they be Sinhala, Tamil, Muslim, Burgher, Malay, Buddhist, Christian, Hindu or Islamic to live in peace and harmony in one country. We should move forward to create an independent and prosperous nation.<\/p>\n<p>We will come up against obstacles and challenges.
